Open Innovation in SMEs: Learning Points for Managers and Academics

Today, on the 25th of November, UEH hosted the educational seminar “Open Innovation in SMEs: Learning Points for Managers and Academics” which was presented by the speaker, author and consultant Prof. Dr. Wim Vanhaverbeke who is specialized in the organization and management of open and collaborative innovation.

Recognized as one of the top 50 authors of Technology and Innovation Management over the last 5 years by the International Association of Management of Technology (IAMOT), Prof. Dr. Vanhaverbeke introduced the topics of his new book “Managing Open Innovation in SMEs” which will be published in early 2017. Additionally, the theoretical framework of Open Innovation was exemplified by several case studies about companies such as Curana, Quilts of Denmark (QOD) and Jaga as well as DNA Interactif Fashion. Emphasizing the big role of Open Innovation (OI) with its many advantages but also few difficulties, the professor referred to the development of every particular company as an effect of OI.
